Beaujolais, or “BoJo” (Bo as in Bo Jackson, not *boo*) as the cool kids call it, is located in the Southern part of Burgundy, and is made from the Gamay grape. The region really got mainstream recognition with the advent of Beaujolais Nouveau, a marketing scheme celebrating the first wine of the new harvest which gets released on the 3rd Thursday of each November.
Marketing can be a double edged sword; while it’s great to have a crowd-pleasing super juicy, easy-drinking wine like Beaujolais Nouveau, most people have come to associate all Bojo with Nouveau and nothing could be further from the truth.
There are 10 Crus (premium regions) that with some age on them are some of my favorite of all wines to drink. And nothing is better with turkey!
