Spotlight: Wine Spectator Top 100
At the end of every year, the Wine Spectator compiles a list of their Top 100 Wines of the Year. It’s always compelling but by the time it comes out most of the wines on the list are sold out.
Luckily, we still have a few in stock. This is what we have and can still offer:
#25 Roederer Estate Brut Anderson Valley NV $23 (Sparkling)
92 Pts A voluptuous and expressive sparkler, with floral red apple, brioche and cinnamon spice aromas and rich, vibrant flavors that finish on a luxurious note.
#41 Bodega Garzón Tannat Uruguay Reserva 2015 $20 (Red)
90 Pts Well-sculpted, with dense, rich flavors of dark plum, dried blackberry and dark currant that are supported by firm tannins. Christmas pudding and rich savory notes show on the finish. Drink now through 2022.
#58 Domaine de Beaurenard Chateauneuf du Pape 2015 $48 (Red)
94 Pts A beautiful wine, with dark fig, warm boysenberry reduction and alluring creamed raspberry flavors streaming forth, accented by graphite, black tea and pastis. There’s a healthy dose of singed apple wood through the finish, but it’s well-embedded as everything pulls together. Best from 2020 through 2040.
#59 Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero 2015 $24 (Red)
90 Pts Black cherry, red plum and currant flavors are fresh and lively in this firm red, backed by dark chocolate, licorice and toasty notes. Light, firm tannins and citrusy acidity keep this focused. Drink now through 2023.
#61 Cantina del Pino Barbaresco ‘Ovello’ 2013 $69 (Red)
97 Pts This pretty red offers delicate flavors and subtle power, evoking flowers, red berry, mineral, tobacco and tar on the nose and palate. Firmly structured, this remains harmonious and long on the mineral- and tobacco-tinged finish. Best from 2020 through 2036.
