Toro Albala was created in 1922 and it’s original founder had the novel idea of making his sherry’s with the idea of aging them for the future. Thus the foundation for their PX vintage program was installed in the very beginning, and they release older vintages at various times.
The 1987 vintage is every thing that one could ask for from a sweet sherry. It has strong notes of dark chocolate with sweet plums, prunes, dried figs and spices, wrapped in strong acidity that keeps the sugars balanced. All this goodness concentrated by the age and I could just drink this every night! The cherry on top is that sherry can keep once opened for quite some time in the fridge. Grab one!
