Seth’s Pick: Soliste Narcisse 2013 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Soliste is the word winemakers from Burgundy call their special barrel that they put aside for friends and family and this Californian wine is made with that same philosophy. Enlisting the winemaking talents of Ryan Zapaltas (Siduri, Zapaltas), Claude Keoberle started Soliste in 2005. Claude learned to make wine with the GREAT Henri Jayer as a youngster and then went the Chef route running the famed kitchen of LA’s Ma Maison for years.
Narcisse is his entry level Pinot with great texture and nuance, vibrant, red fruits on the nose and matching palette, with good structure allowing for aging if desired. This is one of my favorite unknown Californian Pinots. Drink today with almost anything from grilled burgers/salmon to roasted lamb, but definitely drink it.
