Located in the foothills of the Alto Adige in northern Italy, Elena Walch has been a family force of female led wine making. Her 2 daughters have now joined her and together they make some exciting, fresh, and powerful wines shaped by their focus on terroir.
Beyond the Clouds is their top cuvée, a blend of mostly chardonnay mixed with some Sauvignon Blanc and other lesser know grapes. It has the power of a chardonnay but with honey notes and softness. As Robert Parker put it, “is a wine of density and richness, yet it also manages to feel feather light on the palate. That special quality of showing concentration without feeling heavy” (92pts).
