Orange wine has been making waves in sommelier circles for decades now, but only in the last five or so years have American wine programs begun to truly embrace the style. While many of our regular customers have likely heard the term used here in the store, few know exactly what is being referred to and even fewer have tried it for themselves. The concept is straight-forward: ferment the white grapes with skin contact like you would with red wine grapes, leaving the juice and the grape solids in contact with each other for a period of time to produce coloration.

What People Are Saying
Excellent selection of curated wines and liquors. Wonderful staff that are knowledgeable to the point of knowing exactly what you’re looking for.
There are lots of wine stores in the neighborhood and if you tend to drink the same kinds of wine all the time, there are other stores that might be more to your liking. But if you want to explore the world of wine – really get to know the multitude of wine regions and get exposed to different grapes and truly small, artisanal producers – Amsterdam Wine Co can take you on an amazing journey. Thank you, Amsterdam!

I’ve lived on the UWS for 20+ years and long ago had pledged my allegiance to one of the old stalwart liquor stores in the neighborhood. But something made we want to give Amsterdam Wine Co a shot. I did…. and I’ve never looked back. Great selection, great prices and amazing service. It’s my new “go-to.”
