A lighter, versatile expression of an oloroso sherry the Sangre y Trabajadero is fortified to less than 19% alcohol and comes across as fresher on the palate. You’d be pleased to pair it alongside a typical umami dish like steak and mushrooms or something more casual like almonds and olives.
It’s deep amber to the eye, and glistens. On the nose it’s rich and pronounced with nutty notes reminiscent of walnuts that have been pan-fried in brown sugar but on the palate it’s dry, textured and possessed of enough acidity to call out for food. The wine spends up to 12 years in solera, making it a great value and entry into oxidative-styled sherries.
