Connor’s Pick: High Wire New Southern Revival Sorghum Whiskey

Thanks to cheap January flights, I avoided the snow fall and showers this past weekend down in sunny South Carolina! Since we’ve carried High Wire Distilling Company for a few months now, I knew I had to try their lineup from the source itself in their warehouse in North Charleston. All of their spirits are great, but I have to say that their sorghum and millet whiskeys were my clear favorites. Distilled from sorghum grown on a Mennonite farm in Tennessee, the whiskey is sweet on the palate with a surprisingly balanced finish for such a traditionally sweet grain. Its fragrant nose gives way to notes of vanilla bean and maple syrup. If you’re tired of the Kentucky stuff, grab yourself a bottle of this and enjoy it neat or replace your favorite rye with this in your Manhattan!
