Adam’s Pick: San Fereolo Coste di Riavolo Langhe Bianco 2011, $24
You may have tried our other wines from San Fereolo, the great Dolcetto producer of Dogliani (if not, what are you waiting for, they are delicious) but this just in: we snagged a tiny amount of their limited and quite rare white wine produced from Riesling and Gewurztraminer. It is, in a word, awesome. The wine sees 5 days skin maceration, making it slightly golden in the glass. Aromatically you get honey, very ripe apple, tea and hints of Gewurz spice. The wine is very textured, with a waxy mouthfeel and a salty mineral core. You’d also be hard-pressed to find a food pairing that wouldn’t work perfectly with this.
