Adam’s Pick: Bodegas Borsao Garnacha Tres Picos Campo de Borja 2014, $17
When I’m looking for barbecue wine, I usually go for a rich and powerful Zinfandel with dark, rich fruit and spice. But American Zinfandel has gotten expensive as of late! Enter Spain, the country capable of impeccable bold and fruit-forward wines with rich textures and polished ripe fruit. This Garnacha from Borsao is decidedly modern, so much so that a wine snob might turn their nose up at it. But I am no wine snob! Sometimes, a fruit-forward, full-bodied, deliciously oaked (but balanced!) wine is what I crave, and this is just that. Serve with anything grilled, from vegetables to veggie burgers to chicken to beef burgers.
